To say that acne is bad for you self-esteem is to put it very mildly. Looking in the mirror, day after day, and wondering why your skin turned on you can be tough. It not only affects your self-confidence but also changes your whole way of viewing the world.
Laughing off the emotional effects of acne is silly – these effects are real and can be quite severe. As an acne sufferer, you need to make a determined effort to continue working on your self-esteem. One of the biggest problems for the sufferer is the embarrassment of looking like a “freak”. Because of this self-consciousness, sufferers may withdraw from social interactions.
It is society today with its emphasis on perfection that can make acne sufferers feel so dreadfully uncomfortable. They don’t want to be in family photos, avoid all manner of social events and generally do as much as possible to draw attention away from themselves – this can lead to a change in dress to a dowdier look – overall, they tend to become wallflowers.
So what is the solution? It is easy enough to say to an acne sufferer, “Don’t be a wallflower.” but it’s just not that easy. If you suffer with acne, you need to work on boosting your confidence. Ideally speaking, you should still lead the life you would have if you did not have acne. The way to do this is to build up a great support network.
Surround yourself with friends and family that are supportive – do you have friends in your circle that constantly make you feel bad about yourself? If so, stand up to them and explain that you do not like that. If they cannot or will not change, you need to look at maintaining your difference from them. Why keep them around if they make you feel even worse? Know why i loved this great acne product.
Develop the right attitude. When it comes right down to it, acne is annoying and ugly but it should go away in the end. Keep a positive attitude about it. When you are having a really bad acne breakout remember that it will not last forever – keep a positive mindset and you’ll find that you not only feel better about yourself but also that other people will want to be around you – despite the acne. At the end of the day, you can choose to let the acne run your life but you will be a lot happier if you turn that situation on its head.
